The AI Trade Has 10 Days Left

A few weeks ago, I handed you a number.

67 days.

That was the countdown to June 8—the day I said Apple would stop pretending it lost the AI race and finally step into the ring.

Well…

We’re down to 10.

Back then we told you what to watch for. A real Siri. A standalone interface. Ambient intelligence baked into every corner of the phone.

In short, Apple throwing its ecosystem open to AI agents that reach into your apps and actually do things—book the Uber, edit the photo, compare the prices. The biggest app store on earth, turning agent-ready.

Meanwhile, James and team went hunting for the company that makes the whole thing physically possible.

They found one.

And it’s the same exact setup that’s minted fortunes in the past.

Before we go there, though, let’s dive into what’s happened since we started the clock.

What’s Confirmed Now

Start with Siri.

The rebuild I described is now confirmed real, and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman mapped it out: a standalone app with a ChatGPT-style chat window, conversation history, photo uploads, a dark interface.

The agent piece is real too.

Apple's been wiring MCP support into the betas since last fall—that's the protocol that lets an AI reach into your apps and actually do things, book the ride, edit the photo, compare the prices.

Analysts expect it to be unveiled June 8.

Finally, the AI model.

Apple's paying something like a billion a year for a custom Gemini model—eight times the size of what it runs now. It lives on Apple's own servers. Your data stays on-device, the hard stuff routes out, and there's no Google logo anywhere on it.

That's the software story.

It'll be the headline June 8, and it's already half-priced into Apple's stock. The part nobody's pricing—the part that actually mints suppliers—is the hardware underneath it.

That's where James has been digging.

The Big Switch

Let’s lay out why the hardware side is so important.

Tim Cook steps down September 1.

His replacement, John Ternus, has run Apple's hardware for the last five years. With AI as the bet-the-company priority, Apple is handing the keys to its chief hardware engineer.

That’s clue #1.

Then look at what Apple's doing underneath the OS, where nobody's looking. For twenty years, Apple rented one of the most important chips in your iPhone—the modem, the part that connects you to the network—from a company called Qualcomm.

Right now, it's cutting them loose and building its own, in-house, for the first time. The handoff finishes by 2027.

That’s clue #2.

A switch that big means one thing…

Apple needs new suppliers—American companies, the kind it's quietly worked with for years—to build the guts of it.

A shift like this has happened before.

It minted fortunes in Corning, Skyworks, Cirrus Logic—the no-name suppliers who got pulled into Apple's orbit right before they became standard on a billion devices.

The more intelligent phone gets the headline. The supplier gets the royalty check—every unit, every quarter, for years.

James believes he’s found the next one in line for Apple’s new ambitions.

The third, and final, clue that cracked it was a single line in the tiny supplier's own filings.

The name, the ticker, the biggest clue, and the math behind his number—that's his to give.
